on impulse

- Randy Brecker

on impulse (english)

The Sebastiaan Cornelissen trio, featuring Holland's first call Jazz pianist Rob van Bavel and electric bass virtuoso Frans Vollink.
Three highly respected musicians playing mostly originals, composed by Sebastiaan himself.
The music can best be described as modern electric Jazz with many detailed flavors and influences from outside this genre.
Structured pieces, without overlooking the beauty of simplicity, melody and most definitely groove.

While listening to this band perform live or on their recordings, it's very clear that there is a long lasting connection between the players.
A tight, energetic overall sound witch a lot of freedom for expression, interaction and captivating dynamics.

Sebastiaan Cornelissen has the reputation of being a very impulsive musician and persona who moved around Europe many times.
He has worked as a teacher at The Royal Academy of Music, Goldsmith's University and Westminster University in London.
He has worked together with artists none other than Randy Brecker, Jim Beard, Gary Willis, Gary Husband, Steve Hunt, Wayne Johnson, Susan Weinert, Scott Kinsey, Tom Kennedy, Gerard Presencer, Hadrien Feraud, Alex Machacek, Damian Erskine, to name only a few.

Quotes:

Sebastiaan writes curious and intelligent music of depth and passion.
His intricate harmonic approach is very interesting to me also.
For these reasons and others, it's been a genuine pleasure to take part a little bit in these recordings and I wish Sebastiaan all the success he deserves with this new release. -Gary Husband

Throughout the years I've come to know Sebastiaan and his music quite well and it always is completely world class, first rate and most impressive! On his latest cd u-turn he almost outdoes himself with great self-penned compositions and arrangements and these are great musicans who deserve to be known the world over! - Randy Brecker
